Grades: Kindergarten-2nd Grade

Welcome Back to the 2021-2022 School Year!

Welcome to Mrs. Hare's School Counseling Website! I am the school counselor for grade K-2 at Clay Harmony Leland Elementary. I get the awesome opportunity to work with K-2 students through classroom counseling lessons, individual counseling, and small group counseling. I also collaborate with teachers, administration, parents, and community stakeholders to ensure our students are happy, excited about coming to school, academically successful, and experience positive social interactions with peers and adults. I am here to help the students at Clay Harmony Leland Elementary be the best them they can be and to be even more AWESOME than they already are!

Counseling Services

As the K-2 school counselor of Clay Harmony Leland Elementary, I provide classroom counseling lessons, individual counseling, and small group counseling. Below is more information on each service.

Classroom Counseling Lessons

I visit each classroom 2 to 3 times a month and have the chance to interact with every student during these lessons. Lessons typically last 30 minutes in length and cover topics such as positive self-image, understanding feelings of self and others, problem solving skills, friendship skills, emotions, decision making skills, and much more.

Small Group Counseling

A variety of small groups are offered to students who may benefit from spending some extra time developing academic, social, or emotional skills along with their peers, and to students who are coping with similar life situations. Groups can have anywhere from 3-12 members and usually meet once a week during lunch for several weeks.

Individual Counseling

Some students can benefit from one-on-one counseling regarding academic, social, or emotional challenges. Please note that individual counseling is not therapeutic in nature, as it is beyond the role of the school counselor to conduct in-depth, on-going individual sessions. Sessions are kept confidential except when students disclose that they are being hurt, are hurting someone else, or want to hurt themselves.
