My knowledge base is Gestalt Psychotherapy Theory which is humanistic and encompasses phenomenology, dialogue and field theory, existential philosophy and holism.
In my life and work I reach out towards my most profound potential and aim to support others to do the same. Clients usually arrive with some sense of dis-ease, some sense of wanting to change and grow.
The Gestalt theories of 'self' are relational and I use the relationship as a focus for the healing. My clients need me to listen and understand; they need to listen to and understand themselves, in this way they will become aware of who they are.
This a therapy of awareness and personal choice. It aims to raise the client's awareness around the issues she/he brings and so give the client a greater range of choice in the 'here and now'.
A basic belief in Gestalt is that everything about us, even our symptoms, push for our well-being and health. Gestalt therapy focuses on process, what is actually happening, over content, what is being talked about and in this way I invite my client to be aware in a spirit of interested investigation rather than of labelling and judgement.
Gestalt is a humanistic psychotherapy, the object of which is to enable the client to become more fully and creatively alive. To become free from the blocks and unfinished business that may diminish satisfaction, fulfillment and growth, to experiment with new ways of being.
'Dare to declare who you are. It is not far from the shores of silence to the boundaries of speech. The path is not long, but the way is deep. You must not only walk there, you must be prepared to leap.' Rumi
