My Role as a School Counselor:
As a school counselor, I am committed to supporting students' academic, social, and emotional growth, as well as addressing career readiness needs. Through individualized support, classroom guidance, and collaboration with teachers and families, I strive to create a positive and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.
What Does This Look Like?
Individual Counseling: I will be meeting one-on-one with students, either when they are referred to me or if they decide on their own they would like to meet with me. Using Person-Centered counseling and play techniques, I work with students to help to address their individual needs. If you would like for your child/student to be seen, please use this referral form.
Small Group Counseling: Throughout the year, I will conduct small-group counseling, which will bring students who are sharing the same experiences together to help build skills, share support, and grow in a safe space. Topics may include attendance, friendship, coping-strategies, self-esteem, etc.
SEL Classes: Once a month, each class will receive an SEL lesson. SEL lessons will provide all students with essential social, emotional, career, and academic skills through interactive lessons. These lessons will include topics about bullying, emotions, friendship, conflict-resolution, etc.
Consultation and Collaboration: I work with parents, guardians, administration, teachers, and other staff to support student success by providing resources, strategies, and guidance. Through collaboration, we ensure students receive the best possible academic, social, and emotional support. I also collaborate with staff members to set up school wide programs that will be beneficial to students.
**IMPORTANT** Please note that school counselors provide academic, social, emotional, and career support, but do NOT offer therapy or therapeutic services. If a student requires any additional mental health support, I can assist in connecting families with appropriate community resources or referrals.
