Rick Livingston has been a marriage and family counselor for 27 years. Rick's background includes being the pastor of a Bible church, providing vocational rehabilitation services through the Oregon Workers Compensation system, teaching in private Christian schools and working at various summer camps.
Rick earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling. He is also certified through the International Association of Biblical Counselors (IABC) and an ordained minister of the gospel..
Rick enjoys family time, dates with his wife, writing poetry, river rafting, and backpacking. Rick and his two oldest sons hiked across Oregon together, from the California to Washington borders. His family roots run deep: He and his wife Patty have eight children who are a joy to them.
Rick believes the way to counsel is..
“looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith”
Accordingly, he has made it an ongoing practice to study the words and life of Christ including how He ministered to and counseled others. Such a methodology introduces an eternal, purposeful direction throughout the process of counseling. Rick calls Jesus the greatest psychotherapist ever to walk on earth.
He also believes God will meet with people
at whatever point they are in their journey, whether they are believers or not.
"His grace truly is sufficient in our weakness"
(2 Corinthians 12:9)

A proverb saying, "a wise man will hear and increase learning" has been Rick's counseling slogan since the start of his practice 27 years ago. It suggests that God meets a person who responsively listens, regardless of gender, ethnicity or creed.
