I am a Colorado native; born and raised in Northern Colorado. Graduating from the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor of science in mathematics and emphasis in secondary education led me to teach 8th grade math for almost 10 years in Weld County School District 6. I LOVED this job but it came with challenges once my husband and I decided to begin our family. My heart yearned for something closer to home but to continue to serve my community.
I strive to follow Jesus each day of my life and to share his love with the people I interact with daily. I have been blessed to share my life with my loving and kind husband, Nathan, and our two boys. We enjoy camping, hiking, thrifting, and playing board games as a family. One of my most beloved hobbies is gardening. I would like to think I grow a pretty delicious green bean! I also am fond of spending my time cooking, baking, and canning.
The philosophy of Cottonwood Cottage Childcare stems from a deep-rooted desire to equip the children of our community with the social, emotional, and cognitive skills to develop into kind, productive adults who understand what is truly important in this world. As an educator for nearly ten years, I have seen firsthand the difference between a child who has had a supportive community around them from the very beginning and a child who has not. My mission is to be a part of that supportive community for families by providing a loving and nurturing space for children to grow, learn, and play when they are not in the arms of their parents.
Being a parent who has worked outside the home has meant that I have felt the frustration of finding exceptional quality child care for my own children. Knowing that frustration, Cottonwood Cottage Childcare has been started to not only provide a loving, nurturing space for children but also an affordable, excellent quality option for parents/guardians.
Children enrolled in Cottonwood Cottage Childcare will be enveloped in a child-centered environment that promotes a child’s autonomy inside the boundaries of truth, kindness, self-confidence, and love. Throughout a child’s care, he or she will be exposed to educational and experiential opportunities that support their unique growth and development. For example, children will have access to dramatic play, building materials, artistic opportunities, and social/emotional interactions facilitated by age-appropriate conversation.
