Facial Fat Transfer
Facial fat transfer or dermal fat grafting is a minimally invasive procedure that naturally restores facial volume around your orbital bones, cheeks, and mid-face, lips or other facial areas by simply removing fat cells from one area of your body and transplanting into another. Fat transfer is a natural alternative to other more commonly used collagen fillers and dermal filler injectables. We also perform fat transfer to the back of your hands for hand rejuvenation.
Your fat is removed with a small liposuction cannula from common donor sites such as your abdomen, flanks, or thighs. Once harvested, your fat is processed to remove excess fluids and then injected and sculpted into the desired recipient sites. The most common areas of the face to receive fat transfer are the areas around the lower eye socket (tear trough deformity), cheeks, lips, and wrinkles and folds around your nose and mouth, known as the nasolabial folds and marionette lines.
What can I expect during my facial fat transfer consultation?
During your facial fat transfer consultation, you will meet privately and exclusively with Dr. Michael L. Thornton where you will collectively share in the decision making process about your personal needs, desires, and expectations. Although well qualified, we choose not use patient coordinators, nurse practitioners, or physicians assistants to perform your consultation. Dr. Thornton will complete a thorough medical history and perform a careful examination of your face to discuss your goals for facial fat transfer.
Where will my facial fat transfer surgery take place?
Facial fat transfer surgery is performed in our private operating room as an outpatient procedure with local anesthesia and oral sedation.
Recovery is usually complete within 5 to 7 days, though mild swelling may last 7-10 days. However, if more complex facial plastic surgery procedures are simultaneously performed, your surgery may be performed at Baylor Surgicare at Mansfield, a AAAHC certified out-patient surgery center, located in Mansfield, Texas.
ThermiTight Face
Mansfield Cosmetic Surgery Center provides ThermiTight Face technology, a revolutionary FDA-approved aesthetic skin tightening system for the face and body. We are the first and only certified surgical practice in Mansfield using ThermiTight.

ThermiTight is the first FDA approved aesthetic device using radio frequency (RF) thermal heating and precise temperature control to treat a variety of cosmetic soft tissue areas of the face, neck, jowls, arms, legs, and body. ThermiTight is only one part of the complete ThermiRF platform that uses the newest and latest ThermiRF technology. Our office also uses the same Thermi technology for vaginal rejuvenation, called ThermiVa.
ThermiTight non-surgical aesthetic technology is able to tighten skin of your face without the need for major surgery. It is specifically designed to target the male or female patient 35 – 55 years of age who are too young for a full face lift but show subtle signs of facial aging, jowling, and loose neck skin — otherwise known as a ThermiLift procedure. It can also be used on other areas of skin laxity and skin crepiness on the abdomen, arms, and legs.
How does ThermiTight work?
During the ThermiTight procedure, a small ThermiRF thermistor probe is inserted under your skin where controlled heat energy is precisely delivered. The insertion points are usually made just behind the earlobes and under the chin. The probe is carefully guided to treat areas of skin laxity and wrinkling while the temperature readings are being directly monitored using precise Thermal Image Guidance using a special heat-sensitive FLIR camera. The selected tissue, skin, and muscle fascia of the face and neck is carefully heated to a specific end point while both the internal temperature and external temperatures are visualized in real time. The ThermiTight procedure requires local anesthesia and takes approximately one hour to complete. After the procedure, a gentle neck wrap is applied to minimize swelling. Normal activities are resumed the next day.
ThermiTight — Alternative to Face Lift surgery
ThermiTight is considered an alternative to a typical face lift surgery for those patients who are either too young to undergo facelift surgery or who have mild facial skin laxity. The perfect age is between 35 – 55 years and works on both males and females.
Most clients benefit from the ThermiTight procedure alone but others may require complete facial rejuvenation, whereby multiple facial plastic surgery procedures are performed simultaneously including concurrent liposuction, blepharoplasty, facial fat transfer, and / or Co2 laser skin resurfacing.

Surgisil Permalip Implant
Silicone Lip Augmentation
Mansfield Cosmetic Surgery Center is proud to provide Surgisil Permalip Implant, otherwise known as lip silicone augmentation, to our clients living near Mansfield, Arlington, Dallas, and Fort Worth. This is a great procedure for patients who have been using lip fillers like Juvederm® or Restylane® for years but are interested in a more permanent option. PermaLip implants are made of soft silicone and the procedure is performed under local anesthesia in about 45 minutes in our office. The Permalip implant has been featured on “The Doctor’s” show.
How do I know which implant is the right size for me?
The Surgisil Permalip Implant™ is available in a variety of sizes to accommodate the uniqueness of your individual lip anatomy.
During your consultation, Dr. Michael L. Thornton will measure each of your lip lengths and determine the most appropriate sizes for you. There are three separate diameter sizes (3mm, 4mm, and 5mm) and each implant comes in three separate lengths (55mm, 60mm, and 65mm) for a total of nine possible choices.
What if I want to have the implant(s) removed?
Although the PermaLip implant is designed to remain “permanent”, under specific circumstances, it may be removed should a person wish to return to their original appearance.
What should I expect immediately post-operatively?
You should expect post-operative lip swelling, bruising, and tenderness with the majority of bruising and swelling resolving after the first week. Over the course of 7-10 days following the procedure, your lip swelling will resolve. Results are individualized.
Is the Permalip procedure painful?
Dr. Thornton will perform the procedure using local anesthesia and facial nerve blocks. Acute discomfort usually resolves after the first 1-2 days with the use of prescribed pain medication, ice, and elevation.
When will I be able to see my results?
It may take several weeks to see your results. However, the operative site will be swollen for the first few days following the procedure. As the swelling subsides you will begin to see your final result. Results are individualized.

Face Lift & Neck Lift
What is the purpose of a face lift?
Face lift or rhytidectomy and neck lift reduces and eliminates the sagging skin of your face, jowls and neck, improve facial lines and wrinkles, and restore your neck and jaw line to a more youthful appearance.
How is a face lift or neck lift performed?
Dr. Michael L Thornton uses traditional yet modern techniques in face lift and neck lift surgery. The underlying support tissue, fibrous fascia, and thin muscle layer under your face and neck skin is called SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) and this support layer is used to lift and remodel the face during a face lift and neck lift procedure. Dr. Thornton uses specialized techniques called SMAS removal and SMAS plication that partially removes portions of the SMAS and tightens the SMAS with stitches to reposition your loose face and neck tissues. Dr. Thornton also makes your incisions that are well hidden within the natural creases around your ears and hairline. Most patients benefit from complete facial rejuvenation, whereby multiple facial plastic surgery procedures are performed simultaneously during your face lift including concurrent brow lift, blepharoplasty, facial fat grafting, and / or CO2 fractional laser skin resurfacing.
What is a mini face lift?
Most of our clients will benefit from a traditional or full lower face lift but there are circumstances where a mini face lift may be appropriate and beneficial. This less invasive facelift is perfect for a patient who needs only a small amount of facial lifting, as this technique utilizes a shorter scar and provides for a lesser degree of skin movement and neck rejuvenation. A mini face lift concentrates on elevating the jowls but does not necessarily improve the neck.
A newer and more advanced technique in facial rejuvenation is called laser-assisted or ThermiTight Face Lift. This advanced technique utilizes our Thermi RF platform to heat the soft tissues of the jowls and neck with carefully performed liposuction. ThermiTight Face Lift is a minimally invasive procedure that can be performed alone or in conjunction with either fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing.
It is considered a lesser procedure as compared to a standard surgical face lift and is used on patients needing minor improvements.

Brow Lift & Forehead Lift
Brow lift or forehead lift is facial plastic surgery that improves the upper 1/3 of the face. A brow lift is performed alone or in combination with an upper blepharoplasty for complete peri-orbital facial rejuvenation to correct droopy eyebows and remove excess eyelid skin. Varying degrees of eyebrow ptosis (droopy) and forehead wrinkles can be corrected using different techniques of brow lift surgery. A brow lift can be performed in one of several ways from subcutaneous trichophytic brow lift, temporal brow lift, or full coronal brow lift. More recently, endoscopic brow lift has become popularized due to advancements in minimally invasive endoscopic cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Michael L. Thornton uses traditional yet modern techniques in brow lift surgery and concealing your incisions within or behind the hairline. Most patients benefit from complete upper facial rejuvenation, whereby multiple facial plastic surgery procedures are performed simultaneously during a brow lift including an upper blepharoplasty and Co2 laser skin resurfacing. The ultimate goal is to reposition the arch of your eyebrow to a more youthful and feminine height.

Facial Plastic Surgery For Women
Plastic surgery has helped to change and correct many facial features in women giving them a chance to live life more confidently. Both young and old women choose to undergo facial plastic surgery, though for different reasons. Younger women may opt for facial plastic surgery to enhance their facial features, whereas older women usually look forward to reversing the effects of aging. There are various kinds of facial plastic surgery for women available at present.
Blepharoplasty: Drooping skin of the upper eyelids can impair proper vision besides giving the face an aged appearance. Puffy bags under the lower lids are also not attractive. Blepharoplasty helps to correct these conditions by removing excess fat and skin from the eyelids and making the eyes look youthful and alert again.
Rhinoplasty: Known commonly as a 'nose job,' rhinoplasty can alter the appearance of the nose and improve functioning. This surgery helps to make the nose look more proportionate and corrects a small, large, thick, short or bulbous nose effectively.
Otoplasty: Surgery for correction of ear shape and function has been around for centuries. In fact, otoplasty can even create an ear in case of microtia or 'missing ear' congenital condition. This surgery has proved a boon for ear shape correction and ear function enhancement.
Chin surgery: As the name suggests, this surgery is meant for correcting the chin shape and making it more proportionate to the rest of the face.
Cheek and lip augmentation: These cosmetic procedures can help to augment a hollow cheek with the use of implants. Even the lips can be augmented for a fuller and softer appearance.
Facelift procedures: These procedures help to reduce wrinkles and folds by getting rid of excess fat and skin and tightening the tissues. Facelifts can be partial or full depending on the requirement. Dramatic results can be expected with these surgical procedures.
Facial plastic surgery for women is very popular now as it includes procedures that are corrective as well as beauty enhancing. These cosmetic procedures work wonders in making a person look good and feel even better.
