A 4-H Parent Volunteer/Activity Leader is an adult volunteer who supports 4-H clubs, projects, and activities by assisting leaders, providing transportation, chaperoning events, helping with fundraising, and contributing to club needs as requested. They work closely with Extension professionals and other volunteers to ensure safe, positive, and meaningful experiences for youth while following Texas 4-H guidelines and best practices for youth protection. This role requires annual enrollment, training, and a background check, but offers parents the chance to be actively involved in their child’s 4-H journey, strengthen the program, and build connections within the 4-H community.
A 4-H Project Leader is an adult volunteer who guides and supports 4-H members in learning specific skills related to their project area while fostering a positive and encouraging environment. They serve as teachers, mentors, and role models by helping youth set goals, develop responsibility, and gain leadership experience. Project Leaders advise members and parents about opportunities to showcase their work, assist with project materials and records, and coordinate with Extension professionals to ensure meaningful educational experiences. This volunteer role requires a commitment of time and training, but offers the rewarding opportunity to positively impact youth growth and development while building strong relationships within the 4-H community.
A 4-H Club Manager is a key volunteer who serves as the main liaison between the county Extension office, 4-H professionals, members, parents, and other volunteers to ensure the success of a local 4-H club. They help organize and oversee club operations, encourage participation in 4-H opportunities, and support meaningful educational experiences that foster youth growth and leadership. Club Managers provide guidance, promote communication, and help create a positive environment for members and families. This role requires annual enrollment, training, and collaboration with Extension staff, offering the opportunity to build leadership, organizational, and communication skills while making a lasting impact on the 4-H community.

You can also be a member of committees, small groups and teams. You can develop your individual leadership skills by learning more about yourself and how you work with others. In the 4-H leadership project you will learn leadership principles, help plan 4-H programs, and recruit new members.
