Karen Ferry is a registered Counsellor and a qualified Neuropsycotherapist. She completed the Master of Counselling Degree at the University of Queensland and undertook further training in applied Neuroscience principles and Neuropsychotherapy. Karen is endorsed to work with children, young people, adults, families, couples and individuals in private practice and in school environments. Karen is the managing director of Cortxion - Counselling and Consulting, a private business based in Melbourne, Australia.
Karen not only provides individual and group counselling sessions, she is also a speaker and workshop/webinar presenter at Education Conferences, Loss and Grief Conferences, Mental Health and Well-being Conferences, both in Australia and internationally.
Karen regularly writes for 'The Science of Psychotherapy e-journal'. She is the author of Benson the Boxer: A Story of Loss and Life, along with the associated manual Benson the Boxer: Program for Loss and Grief, a psycho-educational tool for therapists, teachers and parents who work with children who have experienced loss. She co-authored The Teachers Essential Guide to the Brain and has provided training and information on ShrinkRap Radio, The Science of Psychotherapy Podcasts and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC Radio National).
Karen belongs to the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), Mental Health Academy (MHA), and the International Association of Applied Neuroscience (IAAN). She holds a degree in Education (B.Ed) and has had extensive experience in education as a teacher, curriculum writer, behaviour management, and as an administrator. She maintains accreditation with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT), the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) and Child Protection Training.
