Research Scientist (March 2022- February 2025 )
Dataset design to train and validate ONT's softwares to read and recognize DNA and RNA base modifications
Dataset design to support the ability of the basecaller and the remora models to read through and recognize epigenetics markers. Especially focused on DNA modified bases (e.g. 5mC, 5hmC, and m6A) and RNA modified bases (e.g. 6mA, Methyl-1-PseudoUridine, and PseudoUridine).
Postdoc research (Apr 2020- Feb 2022)
An inquiry into the nature of Epigenetic Ageing
Screening of compounds that affect the rate of Epigenetic Ageing
Single Cell RNA Sequencing
Identify the cell type that drives the age-related changes in DNA methylation
PhD research (Sep 2016-Sep 2020)
Mitochondrial epigenetics; a molecular link between ageing and age-related diseases.
I am investigating the potential of mitochondrial DNA methylation as a biomarker to predict the future risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
More specifically my research project includes:
1. In vitro experiments to determine the mechanism of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) methylation
2. Population study to investigate mtDNA methylation from platelets as a potential biomarker for the future development of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in a population of adults with obesity.
