Current havoc(including Health as well as Economic issues) created in the world due to the Covid-19 Outbreak served as a motivation for me to think about this idea. Seeing the service and dedication of our doctors and other people from medical background towards society during this time of global pandemic made me feel for a while that Engineers are comparatively less useful to the society as, during such challenging times, it were the doctors only who came to rescue by saving lives.
Getting inspired by them, I, as an ICT Engineering student also wanted to do something that can ease the life of people at such a time of crisis but wasn't getting any clue about what to do. At the same time, this project was assigned by Prof. Manish Gupta whose first line read "Formulate a real-life application problem into a mathematical problem & solve it using your knowledge of SC205 course." which gave me an opportunity and a direction to think of solving some problem related to current issues that the world is facing using concepts of Discrete Mathematics.
Thereafter, concepts of graph theory were taught in this course which fascinated me and ultimately by using the concepts of probability and Graph theory on data of social interaction network, I have made an attempt to develop an algorithm that assigns a Corona score to each individual and that score indicates his chances of being Corona positive. More the score, more are his chances of being Corona Positive.
