Events Calendar

One of the main aims of the Cornwall Geoconservation Group is to raise people’s awareness of Cornwall's geology. Members of the group provide guided walks and talks throughout the year. These and other geological activities are published below and in the pull-out diary section of Cornwall Wildlife Trust's Wild Cornwall magazine.

Walks are starting to be planned again. And remember we do have downloadable self-guided walks - check 'geotrails'.

Forthcoming walks 2023 (details on CGG Facebook page):

Geology walk, Boscastle - courtesy of North Cornwall National Trust

Wednesday 13 September  10am-1pm

Join us for a walk around Boscastle to find out about the fascinating geology that formed the famous harbour and surrounding countryside. We will first sit down for an informative chat, and then take the Coast path towards Tintagel to look at the geology in the field.  Flora and Fauna will be discussed on the walk back in order to link Geo and Bio-Diversity together!

Please wear sturdy footwear/walking boots and dress appropriately for the weather! We will be walking up some steep and uneven paths.

Meet at NT café 10am. Parking in main Pay and Display Car park, Boscastle. (parking charges apply)

£5 per person.  Any queries then please contact Jenny Herbert

The best place to see what's coming up is on Cornwall Geoconservation Group Facebook page. Here we also publicise events run by other organisations, e.g. RGSC (Royal Geological Society of Cornwall), Caradon Amateur Geology Club, Trevithick Society, CIE (Cornwall Institute of Engineers), and industry open days, art shows ...anything with connections to geology which might interest the very wide range of people who follow the page. We often collaborate with other organisations  (e.g. RGSC, National Trust, wildlife groups - bats live in old mines!) to run guided walks and talks.

If you know of a relevant walk, or lecture, please let us know by sending a message via our Contact page by clicking here, or send a message on our FB page by clicking here.
