BACHELOR OF SECONDARY EDUCATION

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English (BSEDEN) is a four-year program that is an excellent preparation for a career in English teaching in high school and for advancement in any field in which English communication and teaching skills are important. The Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics(BSEDMT) is a four-year undergraduate program designed to meet the country's need for teachers in Mathematics in secondary schools. This program provides students with the theoritical insights, specialized knowledge of education technology, teaching-learning applications and integration of values that will enhance professional and personal development.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Demonstrate basic and higher level literacy, communication, numeracy, critical thinking, learning skills needed for higher learning and facilitating learning using wide range of teaching methodologies (and delivery modes appropriate to specific learners and their environment), innovative curricula, instructional plans, teaching approaches and resources for diverse learners.
Reflect on the relationships among the teaching process skills, the learning processing in the students, the nature of the content/subject matter, Filipino historical heritage and cultural heritage, teacher personal/professional growth, lifelong learning and other factors affecting educational processes in order to constantly improve their teaching knowledge, skills and practices.
Apply skills in the development and utilization of ICT to promote quality, relevant, and sustainable educational practices.
Manifest a deep and principled understanding of the learning processes and the role of the teacher in facilitating these processes in their students with professional and ethical teaching standards sensitive to the local, national and global realities.
