Our Community of Practice (CoP) is focused on using the CS and its adaptations with Indigenous People and Local Communities (IPLC). The CoP aims to support IPLC CS practitioners and conservation coaches working on CS projects on the land, waters and ice of IPLC, fostering collaboration to grow our conservation practice into the future.
Our Mission
To increase access and support for Indigenous People and Local Communities (IPLCs) in using and adapting the Conservation Standards, fostering increased community-led conservation initiatives.
Our community
Our community is a global network of people, projects, and practitioners who use the Conservation Standards, or an adaptation of, to effectively engage and support IPLCs in leading conservation initiatives.
Indigenous People and Local Communities can access and use adaptations of the Conservation Standards (CS) for their own context.
Networking, sharing and learning amongst IPLC and CS practitioners working with IPLC will lead to an improved practice of conservation planning on IPLC lands and waters
An increasing cohort of IPLC CS coaches and practitioners will lead conservation planning initiatives on IPLC lands and waters.
Training and Support: Provide access to relevant training, material, and support for using the CS.
Communication and Outreach: Communicating with existing and new stakeholders to increase access to the CS for IPLCs.
Advocacy and Awareness Raising : Undertake advocacy and awareness raising within relevant sectors to increase support of IPLCs.
Coordination and Governance: Working across regions to develop a vibrant community of practice.
