The CoP Indigenous CS Projects is launching two exciting new projects in 2025! To introduce these initiatives and explore opportunities for community involvement, we’re hosting a 1-hour Kick-Off Workshop on:

April 10, 2025, at 22:00 UTC
(Friday morning in the Eastern Hemisphere / Thursday afternoon/evening in the Western Hemisphere)

During our December webinar, we introduced the idea of developing new tools, technical guidance, and training materials for CS projects with Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities. Now, as both projects kick off, this session will:

• Provide an overview of the projects

• Highlight ways you can contribute

• Gather initial technical input from the community

CoP Indigenous CS Projects - YouTube Channel

To help us keep connected and better share and learn from each other, the CoP Indigenous CS Projects has set up its own YouTube Channel where we are posting our webinars. You can find on our channel our webinars from 2023 - while we are already preparing our webinars for 2024, where we will showcase how the CS have been used around the world with Indigenous People and Local Communities. If there is a topic that you would like us to cover in a webinar - please get in touch with us via EMAIL. 

Expression of Interest - CoP Coordinating Committee

Get involved! The CoP Indigenous CS Projects is seeking volunteers to join the CoP Indigenous CS Projects Coordinating Committee. The Community of Practice is part of the Conservation Coaches Network (CCNet) and its mission is to support Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs) by increasing access to relevant adaptations of the Conservation Standards, to foster community-led conservation initiatives on IPLC territories.

To expand our representation, we seek:

• two new representatives from Pacific Island nations to represent Oceania. 

For a more detailed description of the roles and to express your interest, please refer to the Expression of Interest and submit a short EOI addressing the criteria to CopIndigenousCSProjects@gmail.com by Friday, February 16th, 2024. Since the CoP Indigenous CS Projects focus on work with IPLCs, we prioritise expressions of interest from IPLCs.

As we were wrapping up with 2023, we captured some of the news of our Community of Practice in a newsletter update. We have a discussion forum, the CCNet Indigenous Projects ListServ, for practitioners who are part of CCNet’s Community of Practice: Conservation Standards Projects with Indigenous Communities. This forum reaches across national, cultural, and organizational boundaries to enable Indigenous Groups and conservation practitioners who collaborate in Indigenous CS Projects to share experiences, useful tools, and opportunities relating to their application of the Conservation Standards and adaptations such as Healthy Country Planning. Topics in this group relate to the practice of conservation and sustainable development in projects managed by and/or where resources are owned by Indigenous Communities.
