COOKD Privacy Policy

COOKD is operated by Patricio Alvarez Morphy in Mexico. This Privacy Policy explains how COOKD collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the COOKD mobile application and related services.

COOKD may collect the following categories of information:
Account Information.
When you create an account, we may receive your email address, display name, authentication provider information, and a unique account identifier through Firebase Authentication. You may sign in using email and password, Google, or Apple where available.
Profile and Personalization Information.
You may provide information such as your display name, dating goals, gender, interests, communication preferences, texting style, profile details, and other information used to personalize COOKD’s responses.
Conversation Content and Screenshots.
You may choose to submit screenshots, chat text, conversation excerpts, names or labels for people, and other context so COOKD can generate suggested replies or analyze conversations.
Generated Content.
COOKD generates suggested replies, summaries, conversation insights, memories, classifications, and other AI-assisted content based on information you provide.
Saved Conversations and History.
If you save conversations, indicate that you sent a suggested reply, import conversations, or use related features, COOKD may store conversation text, names, generated replies, summaries, memories, and related metadata associated with your account.
Usage Information.
We maintain information necessary to operate the service, including the number of successful Cooks used for free-plan limits and similar product state.
Subscription Information.
If you subscribe to COOKD Pro, we receive subscription status, product identifiers, entitlement status, expiration information, and related billing metadata through Apple and RevenueCat. COOKD does not store your full payment-card information.
Support Diagnostics.
COOKD can generate limited technical diagnostic information such as app version, build number, error categories, plan state, and a hashed account identifier. These diagnostics are not automatically uploaded to us. They leave your device only if you choose to copy and share them.
We use information to:
provide and operate COOKD;
generate and personalize AI-assisted replies and conversation analysis;
maintain your account, saved conversations, profile, and preferences;
enforce free usage limits and COOKD Pro access;
process and restore subscriptions;
improve reliability and diagnose technical problems;
provide account security and prevent misuse;
comply with legal obligations.
COOKD uses OpenAI as an artificial intelligence service provider.
When you request an AI feature, COOKD may send information you choose to provide, including:
screenshots of conversations;
conversation text;
profile or texting-style information;
saved conversation context;
relevant information about a person or previous conversation;
previous generated or sent replies.
This information is sent from your device to COOKD’s Firebase/Google Cloud backend and then to OpenAI. The COOKD mobile app does not send content directly to OpenAI.
COOKD requests that OpenAI Responses are not stored as persistent application state by using store: false. OpenAI may nevertheless process or temporarily retain API data as permitted under its applicable policies, including for security and abuse prevention.
COOKD does not intentionally opt API content into model training.
Before using AI features, COOKD asks for your affirmative consent to this processing. If you do not consent, COOKD will not send your screenshots or chat content to OpenAI for AI processing.
COOKD is designed to work with conversations that may include messages written by other people.
You should only submit information, screenshots, or conversations that you have the right to share and process. Please avoid submitting unnecessary sensitive information about other people.
When you select a screenshot from your photo library, COOKD may create a compressed copy on your device and send the image through COOKD’s backend for AI processing.
COOKD does not store the raw screenshot in Firebase Storage or Firestore as part of normal Cook processing.
Local screenshot copies and thumbnails may remain on your device as part of your account history until you delete that history, delete your COOKD account, or uninstall the application.
COOKD uses Firebase and Google Cloud for account authentication, server functions, and database storage.
Server-side information may include:
account profile and preferences;
saved people and conversations;
conversation messages and generated replies;
usage counts;
subscription status;
derived memories and conversation insights.
Certain COOKD data is also stored locally on your device and is separated by account.
COOKD currently relies on service providers including:
Google / Firebase / Google Cloud — authentication, database, and backend infrastructure.
OpenAI — AI generation and analysis.
RevenueCat — subscription entitlement and purchase management.
Apple — Sign in with Apple and App Store subscriptions.
Google Sign-In — optional Google account authentication.
These providers process information according to their own terms and privacy practices and are used only as necessary to provide COOKD.
COOKD currently does not use third-party advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking.
COOKD does not currently use IDFA or Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission.
COOKD does not currently operate production analytics through services such as PostHog, Firebase Analytics, Meta, TikTok, AppsFlyer, or similar advertising systems.
We generally retain account information, profile information, saved conversations, memories, and related COOKD data while your account remains active or as necessary to provide the service.
When you delete your COOKD account, COOKD is designed to delete the application data associated with that account, including profile information, saved people, messages, generations, usage records, and local account data.
Some information may be retained where reasonably necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, or maintain financial and transaction records.
Third-party providers may retain information according to their own policies.
You can initiate account deletion from within COOKD through:
Settings → Account → Delete Account
Account deletion removes your COOKD account and associated application data.
Deleting your COOKD account does not automatically cancel an active Apple App Store subscription. You must manage or cancel App Store subscriptions through Apple.
COOKD provides access to Apple’s subscription-management interface from the account deletion flow.
If you use Google or Apple authentication, COOKD may receive information made available through those services.
When you delete your account, COOKD may revoke applicable third-party authentication authorization where supported.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information, including authenticated access controls, account-scoped data storage, server-side authorization, and protected server credentials.
No system can guarantee absolute security.
COOKD is intended only for users who are 18 years of age or older.
COOKD asks users to confirm that they are at least 18. COOKD does not currently collect a date of birth to independently verify age.
Depending on the feature, you can:
choose whether to submit screenshots or conversation text;
decline AI processing consent;
edit certain profile and personalization information;
manage your Apple subscription;
sign out of your account;
delete your COOKD account from within the app.
COOKD and its service providers may process information using infrastructure located outside your country. By using COOKD and providing the required consent, your information may be transferred and processed in countries where our service providers operate, subject to applicable law.
We may update this Privacy Policy as COOKD changes or as required by law.
If changes are material, we may provide notice through the application or other appropriate means.
The effective date above indicates when this Privacy Policy was last updated.
