Additional Information

Covid-19 Information

We are aware that the Covid-19 situation may present many obstacles for travelling but also for organizing a workshop. We will continue to monitor the situation but we are confident that this meeting will be possible.

In order to enter Austria it is necessary to have an up-to-date PCR test or evidence of vaccination or recovery. If such a proof cannot be provided, one needs to register using a pre-travel clearance form and have a test carried out promptly. Then, home quarantine must be started immediately until a negative test result is available. Also, additional restrictions may apply to certain countries.
Please see https://www.oesterreich.gv.at/en/themen/coronavirus_in_oesterreich/pre-travel-clearance.html for more information.

An FFP2 mask must be worn in the lecture hall and during the coffee breaks. The mask can be briefly removed for the consumption of food and beverages.

For the dinner (and also in order to eat at a restaurant during the lunch breaks) the so-called 2G rule applies. This means that one needs to provide a proof of vaccination (180 days since 2nd dose or 270 days since 3rd dose) or a proof of recovery (within the last 180 days). In addition, an FFP2 mask must be worn except when seated at the table.
Update on April 16 2022: The 2G rule no longer applies. This means that a proof of vaccination or recovery is not necessary anymore in order to visit a restaurant.

Conference Venue

The conference takes place at Freihaus, Wiedner Hauptstraße 8-10. The nearest metro station is Karlsplatz, where the lines U1 and U4 stop (line U2 is under construction at the moment).

There, the lecture hall is located in the 2nd floor of the yellow area. See also here and here.

How to get There?

By Airplane:
From Vienna International Airport you can easily reach Vienna by train or taxi.
Train S7 from the airport to the city takes 25 minutes and leaves every 30 minutes starting at 4:19 am. The last train leaves at 11:49 pm.
Further train connections are provided by CAT (City Airport Train). These trains are a bit faster but also more expensive than S7. At the moment, operation of CAT is stopped due to the pandemic.

By Train:
The main train stations in Vienna are Wien Hauptbahnhof and Wien Westbahnhof. Many international connections (including night trains) stop there. For additional information see: https://www.oebb.at/en/

By Car:
Traffic in the streets of Vienna can be slow and there are lots of one-way streets. Furthermore, parking restrictions may be confusing and one always has to yield to trams, from whatever direction they cross.
The easies and cheapest way of getting here by car is to park somewhere near one of the underground or railway stations outside of the city center and to then continue by public transport.
If one wants to come into the city center by car, there is also a parking garage inside of Freihaus (where the conference takes place). More infos on parking in Vienna can be found here.
