The reception of antiquity is everywhere: in films, games, literature, art, and political discourse. Yet the academic conversation about these phenomena often remains scattered across disciplines that rarely speak to each other.

ConTrA is an international conference that brings together researchers from classical studies, archaeology, game studies, media studies, literary studies, and beyond, united by a shared interest in how ancient worlds continue to shape contemporary culture.

The conference is deliberately interdisciplinary and open to a wide range of methodological approaches. We welcome both established scholars and early career researchers.

ConTrA first took place in April 2026 at the Archaeological Institute of the University of Cologne.
