If ZARUSD goes up more dollars are needed to buy Platinum so the price of Platinum also goes up

'The positive dependency implies that higher gold and platinum return prices cause the appreciation of the 86 Rand while lower gold and platinum prices are associated with the depreciation of the Rand.' , see (conclusion chapter): https://uir.unisa.ac.za/bitstream/handle/10500/25239/dissertation_malandala_k.pdf?isAllowed=y&sequence=1

Global platinum production is close to 185 metric tons per year (note: gold production is 2500 to 3000 metric tons per year).  In the article below Micky Fulp writes "Cumulative world production of platinum is estimated to be about 5% of gold (9400 tonnes versus 182,000 tonnes) " .  Sidenote: Rhodium's global yearly production is somewhere arond 25 metric tons (in 2018). On the other hand silver adds around 27 million metric tons each year.

Sidetracking a bit here, rhodium production is about 25 to 30 metric tons a year. Rhodium has seen extreme price fluctuations ranging between 500 and 10.000 $/Oz during the past 30 years. Rhodium has no futures or CDF's and no official spot price. Both Platinum and Rhodium are industrial metals and therefor prices could get hit once the great market crash starts. However, currently Platinum is at a low point and high demand is expected in the coming years.

The price of metals like gold, silver and platinum are basically determined on dollar based exchanges. So the price is set in dollars. In terms of euros therefor the stronger the euro with respect to the dollar the lower the price of the metal in terms of euros. If the euro drops with respect to the dollar the price of the metals in euro terms becomes stronger or higher. So if the ratio EURUSD goes down the price of the metals in terms of euros goes up.
