Bio

I am a philosopher working primarily on emotion and communication. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bern (Switzerland), where I am a member of the CoGS project. I am also an affiliated member of Thumos and the ECOM research group.

Between 2021 and 2024, I held postdoctoral positions at the Institut Jean Nicod and the Collège de France, as a member of François Recanati's group, and at Rutgers University, where I worked with Liz Camp.

My PhD dissertation, defended in 2021, examined how theories in pragmatics and semantics must be revised to account for emotional expression and interpretation. It was co-supervised by Julien Deonna (Geneva) and Bence Nanay (Antwerp). During this period, I also spent a semester at the University of York (UK), where I was advised by Greg Currie.

In 2016–2017, I conducted an empirical cross-cultural study in music psychology between India and Switzerland; selected results are available here.

Before that, I completed an MA thesis on musical genres, co-supervised by Jerrold Levinson – a big inspiration for me in aesthetics.

You can find more information about my research on this page and about my teaching and outreach activities here.

I mention some of my non-academic activities on this page.

I'm from Lausanne, Switzerland.
