En 1767 se estableció en Niquivil un chileno de apellido Varela que contrajo matrimonio con la hija de un terrateniente de la localidad de Huaco, Eusebio Dojorti, abuelo de Buenaventura Luna. De esta forma, la familia Varela fue poseedora de un gran feudo de Niquivil hasta 1904, año en el que partieron al Sur del país, luego estas tierras son adquiridas por la familia Camus.
La Casona pertenecía a la Familia Varela y posteriormente fue comprada por la familia Camus.
