Screen Printing (2020-21)
Left: A simple silhouette print of a Nintendo Game Cube Controller Middle: A piece of fanart I made that I made a print of. This is from the game Omori. Right: My Spirit Animal design, which I printed but don't have a picture of.
Advanced Graphic Design (2021-22)
Left: My Modern Coat of Arms. This is my favorite piece I've ever done. This piece is a representation of myself, but not all of it is symbolic. I could explain it to be symbolic, sure; the wings are symbolic of letting my imagination "take flight", as the lightbulb, a common theme in my pieces, represents an idea. The fire with the Super Smash Bros logo inside represents the passion I feel for the game. The swords are there just because I've always liked sword designs and I personally like how things turned out. I think what makes this piece successful is that I was able to really just take an idea and run with it.
Middle: The cover I made for the Methacton Awards Ceremony program. It ended up getting selected for the programs used in the ceremony, which was a huge surprise to me! I wanted to go with a design that was simple enough to where it wasn't too distracting, the diamond pattern in the background was a fairly last minute change I made that ended up turning out extremely well so I was super happy with that. A lot of this, like many of my successful pieces, was me trying out random ideas that came to mind and having a few of them come to fruition.
Right: The Artist Card I made for my sister. This is a close second in terms of my favorite piece. My sister wanted flowers and pastel colors; two things I had never worked with before. Therefore, this piece ended up being a LOT of experimentation on my end. After a few days of sketches and trials, I ended up settling on three distinct flower designs, as can be seen on the perimeter of the card. The pastel colors ended up fitting very nicely with the overall theme, I was really happy with how it came out, and she seemed to like it too!
Why did I take this course?
Screen Printing: I took this course because of a pretty strange reason. I wanted to take Advanced Graphic Design, but I didn't get in, so I decided to opt for Screen Printing instead. I knew I wanted to take some kind of digital art course, so this was the alternative for me. I want to eventually go into art within game design.
Advanced Graphic Design: Fast forward a year and I did end up taking Advanced Graphic Design! Art is always something I've wanted to get better at, even as a hobby, so this class was definitely something that helped me figure some things out that I want to apply in the future.
