Iftar Feeding Programme

Ramadan 2023 we partnered with an organisation in Pakistan for an Iftar feeding program. We helped provide funds towards nourishing meals for over a thousand people in need and create a brighter future for all.

Fundraising for Al Imaan Hospital Syria


Mentored and advised a fundraising campaign to walk, run or cycle 1000km over summer 2021 and raise funds for a hospital in Syria. This was part of our Youth Initiative, which encourages youth to be aware of global crises and empowers them to be part of the solution.  

We donated funds via Human Appeal (Registered Charity Number: 08553893) Emergency Appeal and received a certificate of appreciation. 

Digital and Online Marketing

Our volunteers led the digital and online marketing efforts for West Norwood Mosque in South London under the trust of Croydon Islamic Academy – Registered Charity Number 1141001 


Supporting Soup Kitchen in South London

We’ve been regularly supporting Al Hidayah Croydon's soup kitchen based in South London. Serving a cup of warm soup and a piece of bread for approximately 50 people, who are in much need of support. 

Fundraising for victims of Beirut port explosion

Connecting Hands organised a young team of volunteers to hike across the Seven Sisters cliffs, on 19th September 2020. Funds were raised for for victims of the Beirut port explosion, in Lebanon,  on Tuesday 4th AugustThis was part of our Youth Initiative, which encourages youth to be aware of global crises and empowers them to be part of the solution.  

We helped raise £3000 for the cause and donated via Human Appeal (Registered Charity Number: 08553893) Lebanon Emergency Appeal.

Supporting NHS staff at Croydon University Hospital

Happy to have supported local charities, SWAN and Muslim Association Croydon (MAC) , as they distributed food to NHS staff at Croydon University Hospital and local residents.


Our volunteering was officially recognised by the Mayor of Croydon.  


Free Food Packs 

In collaboration with local individuals and organisations  we organised a FREE food pack service for people severely impacted by the Corona virus. 

Corona Campaign

Since the Corona Virus was declared a global Pandemic by the World Health Organisation and the UK government declared this country would be significantly affected, we created a support network of volunteers to help those affected by the Corona virus, as well as a WhatsApp group to serve an area of South London.  If you have the time, join our Corona Campaign.

Islamophobia Awareness Month

Partnering with MEND (Muslimc Engagement and Development) and West Norwood Mosque to organise a programme to educate the public about Islamophobia and empower them to tackle it.

Entrepreneur Mentoring 

Mentoring a young volunteer to create and manage a novel Live Streaming broadcasting service and associated social media presence.

  

Digital and Online Marketing 

Our volunteers led the digital and online marketing efforts for Bromley Muslim Association (Registered Number. 6919561) who are embarking on a new project to establish a new community and educational centre in South London. 

Youth Mentoring Programme

We organise free monthly advice and mentoring for teenage boys in the West Norwood area of South London. Areas include; study advice, careers advice and professional skills. See our Mentoring Page  for details). 

Fundraising for Indonesia Earthquake and Tsunami

On 14th October 2018, Connecting Hand's volunteers ran the Wimbledon Half Marathon, to raise funds for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Palu, Indonesia. On Friday 28th September a magnitude 7.5 earthquake and tsunami struck the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. After 48 hours the death toll nearly reached 2000, with nearly 200 thousand displaced. More than 150 aftershocks have been felt, thousands of homes, hotels, shopping malls and several mosques have collapsed.

Over £1200 was raised for the cause and donated via Penny Appeal (UK registered charity number 1128341). 

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award  

Over the years, Connecting Hands have worked with a number of individuals working towards achieving  their Duke of Edinburgh's (DOE) Award , particularly in the volunteering section. See the Duke of Edinburgh's website for further details.

To assist the formation, digital marketing and online presence of Connecting Hands, in early 2018 we worked closely with a DOE volunteer and mentored them in marketing ideas and venture creation concepts. In return they produced lots of valuable ideas and deliverables for our website and social media channels.
