TOPIC: SHOPPING - LESSON 5

What's wrong with fast?
(1 x 45 min)

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

1) to critically think about fast fashion

2) to find some solutions

3) to practice 21st-century skills

PROCEDURES

This lesson is dedicated to the concept of Fast Fashion.

STEP 1: Discuss with your classmates what you know about fast fashion. Try to create your own definition. Comment on other students' definitions and ideas. Are they similar or different?

STEP 2: You will now watch a video explaining the concept of fast fashion and showing its results. Open this Edpuzzle link. Watch and answer the questions which will appear in the video.

STEP 3 : Think about how to answer the following questions: What do you think about Maria’s idea to reuse the scraps of fabric? Is it a good idea? Does it make sense in the world we live in?

Think of your own ideas how to reduce the amount of used clothes. Go to the Answer Garden Website. Choose and submit your best idea. Check other students' ideas. Reflect on their answers. Analyze them. Estimate how many different ideas were mentioned.

STEP 4: Go online and do a quick internet research. Find other ideas and solutions to the problem of fast fashion.

STEP 5: Share your findings with your classmates . Discuss the pros and cons of each solution.

GO THE EXTRA INTERCULTURAL MILE: Your teacher may decide that you will prepare STEPS 1-5 in a cross-school, and/or cross-country collaborative group. If you live in the same time zone, you may decide to meet synchronously via WhatsApp call or using another communicator of your choice. If not, set up a shared Google doc and write your ideas for answers to the questions in a table , then comment on other students' ideas - they may differ, depending on your country of origin.

Go the extra (regular ;) mile!

Use THIS rubric to assess the reliability of the internet sources you used to find other solutions to the problem of fast fashion.

TIP: Make a copy of the rubric and annotate it digitally OR print it and highlight the appropriate boxes.
