Let's start our own shop!
(3 x 45 min)

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

1) to learn vocabulary connected to online shopping

2) to learn to work in a team

3) to practice 21st-century skills

PROCEDURE

Using Canva, your group will make their own shop with pre-loved items. What are pre-loved items? If you don’t know, ask your classmates or find out from the internet.

Before you start check out this simplified exemplary shop with pre-loved items https://exampleshop.my.canva.site/ It should give you an idea of what the end product of this task could look like. Of course, your version will have more categories and items.

STEP 1: Decide together with your group mates what departments you want in your online shop (minimum 4). As inspiration, check-out some online stores or auction sites in English like https://www.ebay.co.uk/

STEP 2: Choose two or three objects that you have in your house but do not need any more and would be willing to sell. Prepare a short advertisement for each item. The ad should include:

Make sure the items you have chosen belong to different categories/ departments of the store. Think how to advertise these items so that people want to buy them.

STEP 3: Now, it’s time to choose the design and create the shop’s website. Log into Canva and look at different website templates.

ALERT: IDEALLY, THE WHOLE CLASS SHOULD HAVE ONLY ONE WEBSITE. HOWEVER, YOUR TEACHER WILL MAKE THE DECISION.

Talk to all your classmates and decide how you want to achieve this. For example, you can divide the whole class into 3-4 smaller groups and each group can find ONE design in Canva. Next, you can decide by a draw or ask your teacher to choose one design for your class website.

STEP 4: Work as one team. Complete the design of the chosen website. Add the departments/categories. They should have their own subpages that represent different categories of items sold in the shop.

Additionally, under each item provide a link to an empty Google Doc, which will be used to communicate with the seller. Make sure everybody who has the link is able to edit the document. If you are not sure how to do this, ask your classmates or ask Google.

Make sure that your group has ads for pre-loved items in each department/category.
