TOPIC: IDENTITY - LESSON 7 & 8

The Book of Me!
(2 x 45 min)

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

1) to practice writing skills

2) to practice 21st-century skills

3) to go the extra mile

PROCEDURES

STEP 1

Think about all your strengths, weaknesses, talents, successes, failures,  interests and passions. Check out the visual notes you created in lesson 1&2. Choose one of the following options:

OPTION 1  - Create a book about yourself and the way you would like to be in the world. How would you like other people to see you? Write an autobiography.

OPTION 2  - With a partner, imagine one of you became a famous person like a sports champion, politician, advocate for climate, or someone along those lines. Jointly write this person's biography.

OPTION 3  - With a partner,  create a fictional celebrity, someone who is a bit like one of you (or both ;), or maybe the complete opposite. Give him/her a name and follow the same procedure of creating a biography.

Go the EXTRA INTERCULTURAL MILE and check out the possible perceptions of this celebrity in different settings (for example, Hollywood vs. Bollywood, European vs. Asian perspective on beauty, or something similar you both agree on.)

STEP 2

The biography can be a digital book, a paper book, a slide show, a cartoon, a poster, a comic book, a film, an animation, a vlog.

Some suggestions:

You can use whatever tool that best fits your format. Make sure you can generate a link that you will share to show your book to other students.

ALERT: If you choose to work in a pair, choose a shareable tool to ensure your creation is editable by both of you.

STEP 3

Share the link to your book in this PADLET. Read two other books and comment on them as if you were a big fan. Tell them why you are a fan and why you admire them. Remember - you made it for fun but also to practice your English so maybe try to go outside your comfort zone and say something you have never said before!

REFLECTION & EVALUATION

The process of reflection begins when a person refers to his/her own experience and recollects what has occurred, reconsiders the experience, and reevaluates it. This effective strategy also improves critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
