PEER SUPPORT
Teenagers often face challenges that revolve around relationships, sports, peer pressure, bullying, obesity, school stressors, and so on. HOW CAN WE HELP EACH OTHER?
Step 1: Read the article 10 Tips Every Teen Should Know About Dealing With a Mental Health Issue.
Step 2: Together with a partner from another class/school/country, discuss the MOST CRITICAL issues that can be resolved to some extent with peer support. How do your lists of "critical issues" differ if you're from different cultural backgrounds?
Step 3: Together with your partner from another class/school/country, on a shared Google Slide Show (or use Prezi or another slideshow tool), create a PLAN of a TEEN SUPPORT DAY (or WEEK) which includes activities for teen mental health support. Browse through the internet to find interesting tasks to do or collaborative activities that boost mental health in teenagers. Ensure your sources are reliable (check them for credibility using the Lateral Reading strategy and Evaluating Evidence (you will find them on the Student Resources page). Ask ChatGPT to help you organize your ideas.
Step 4: Post the link to your SLIDE SHOW on THIS Padlet (Password CL-HEALTH) to share with others.
TIPS: Your slide show should contain 1 to 5 slides (1 if it's a DAY, 5 if it's a WEEK of campaign). Calculate your time and collaboration possibilities across timezones. Ask your teacher for advice on this issue.
