TOPIC: HEALTH - LESSON 3 & 4
Collaborative problem solving
(2 x 45 min)
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
1) to practice reading, writing and speaking
2) to familiarize students with ways of solving mental health issues
3) to practice 21st-century skills
PROCEDURES
Step 1: Go to the site The young minds and browse through its various articles. Pick one article of interest to read carefully (each is approximately 4-6 minutes of reading time)
Step 2: Using your chosen article as inspiration, create an imaginary problem. Think hard about the problem you want to create and make it realistic. Write about your imaginary problem in a post and ask for advice how to solve this situation/issue.
Step 3: Post your imaginary problem with your question on THIS Padlet (Password: CL-HEALTH) wall. Remember to include the LINK to the article you chose.
OPTIONAL: Create a vocabulary puzzle for difficult/new words in your chosen article. You can try CRISS-CROSS PUZZLE maker, CROSSWORD LABS, or EDHELPER CROSSWORD, or another site you know. Ensure you set your puzzle to "accessible to all" and share with your classmates.
OPTIONAL EXTRA INTERCULTURAL MILE: Collaborate with a student from another country and create a puzzle together. You can connect asynchronously using a shared Google doc, Messenger, or another app, or synchronously through a chosen video app. Remember to coordinate your time zones!
HEADS UP: In lesson 8 you will come to THIS Padlet (Password: CL-HEALTH) again and answer/leave a comment on at least two imaginary problems/questions made by other students.
