Tanis Fink is the Director of Seneca Libraries and Learning Services. She has been with Seneca College for thirty-four years and has spent the last 24 in the role of Director. Tanis is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario where she completed both an honours degree in Social Sciences and a Master of Library Science. She is a graduate of the 2003 ACRL/Harvard Academic Library Leadership Program and the 2014 Harvard Library Leadership in a Digital Age program.
Tanis has championed many strategic initiatives for the Seneca Libraries in the areas of information literacy, digital literacy, digital libraries, information services and systems, and elearning. She also held a Visiting Librarian position at York University Library from September 2005 until March 2006.
In addition to her work at Seneca College, Tanis has worked on several provincial initiatives as part of the Ontario Colleges Heads of Libraries and Learning Resources (HLLR) and Ontario Colleges Library Service (OCLS). The newest initiative is the building of the College Libraries Ontario Learning Portal.
Tanis is very involved in her professional associations and has presented on the Seneca Libraries initiatives at several different conferences such as WILU, CLA, ALA and the Western New York/Ontario chapter of ACRL. She is also actively involved in the Ontario Library Association and has spoken many times at the OLA Super Conference and served on the OLA Building Award panel for three terms. In 2011, Tanis became the first college librarian to be President of OLA. After her role as President, Tanis was the Chair of the OLA Board Advocacy Committee for three years and Chair of the OLA Board Mentoring Committee.
Tanis strongly feels that being a college librarian is the best job in the world.
Sandra Shoufani is the Liaison Librarian for the Faculty of Continuing & Professional Studies, and the Finance Program at Sheridan. Prior to Sheridan, Sandra spent 17 years at a Management Consulting firm as a Research Manager in a Special Library. New to Academia, she is loving the experience of connecting with students and faculty while helping them in their quest for information.
Marlyn Husbands is a Learning Strategist with Centennial College. Some of her responsibilities include training peer tutors and teaching students’ learning strategies. Prior to Centennial, Marlyn worked at Ryerson University and volunteered in adult literacy. She holds a B.A.A (Information Technology Management), B. Ed. (Adult Education) and a MA (Education).
Dijana Kladnjakovic, Coordinator, Collections & Technical Services, Humber Libraries, North Campus. She joined Humber in 1998. Dijana holds a Master of Information from the University of Toronto.
Joy Wen is currently the interim liaison librarian at George Brown College. She used to be the coordinator of Collections and Technical Services. She has led a number of projects including LibAnswers, Libguides, and Ebsco Discovery Layer, and sits in a number of Ontario Colleges Library Service committees. Joy would be glad to share her knowledge and experience with fellow colleagues.
Jennifer Peters is currently a Teaching and Learning Technologies Librarian and co-cordinator of the Seneca Sandbox (a digital media/maker lab). In a day she might create instructional videos, build online tutorials, answer copyright questions, and teach a variety of digital media skills to students and faculty.
Agnieszka Gorgon is a librarian who’s recently crossed over from a public to an academic library. During the day, she is part of the Seneca College community, after work … ask her if you’d like to know.
Caleb Domsy is a Business and eLearning Librarian at Humber College. He spends his days reading up on eLearning best practices, experimenting with technology, and supporting other staff with their eLearning ideas. He also works as a Liaison to The Business School at Humber who he supports with in-class and online instruction and through collection development.
Brenda Castillo-Pena is currently a part time Reference and Borrower Services Technician at Seneca College and a Library Assistant at CCNM. While working at Seneca, Brenda enjoys helping students with reference questions and getting first dibs on new acquisitions. Her current goal is be known, someday, as the “Sticky Note Bandit”
