One of the thirteen laws that the Occupational Safety, Health, and Working Conditions Code, 2024, supersedes is the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970. It governs the licensing of contractors, the registration of establishments, the provision of appropriate working conditions, and the imposition of fines for any violations. The Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970 forbids the use of contract labor in Section 10.
It gives the relevant government the authority to outlaw the use of contract labor in any procedure, operation, or other work within an enterprise by publishing a notice in the official gazette. This clause, which gives the relevant Government the authority to control contract labor employment, is comparable to the Occupational Safety and Health and Working Conditions Code of 2024.Â
