Q: How will I present my paper during the panel?
Each panelist will have 15 to 20 minutes to present their paper. All rooms are equipped with a projector, but you must bring your own laptop for the presentation.
Harvard AV recommends that you save your slides directly on your laptop (not just in the cloud or online). This means you should be able to open the file even if there's no internet connection. Doing so helps prevent technical issues during your talk.
Q: How will I give and receive feedback?
This is a small conference and therefore we hope everyone takes time to read the papers on their panel. To encourage focused feedback, we will ask each presenter to provide focused feedback to another paper on their panel during the Q&A.
Q: How should I format my poster?
We will have easels and posterboards available for poster presenters. The standard and recommended poster size is 36" x 48", which fits perfectly on our easels. If you bring a poster in that size, setup will be easy.
If your poster is a different size or format, don’t worry—we’ll figure out a way to display it. You do not need to mount your poster on foam core.
Q: Where can I print my poster?
A: You should plan to print your own poster for the conference, which leaves you with a few options:
There is a FedEx store near campus, and you could reach out to them about printing your poster in whatever format is most convenient for you (https://local.fedex.com/en-us/ma/cambridge/office-0182).
On-campus option: Harvard’s Center for Geographic Analysis (CGA) offers poster printing services for a cost.
There are also other print shops near campus that you can find on Google, if you prefer.
Another option is to print your poster at your home location and travel with it on the plane. Most airlines allow you to carry on a poster roll for free.
