This is my inspiration for choosing my confirmation saint, Saint Carlo Acutis. This includes links to the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, links to the Jesuit Virtues and how Saint Carlo Acutis will make me a better person in faith and during life's challenges.
Wisdom: He understood the true value of life and dedicated his life towards spending eternity with God.
Understanding: He had a strong sense of faith for his age, making difficult ideas simple when explaining them to other young people.
Counsel: He helped his friends to make better choices, often saying, “Everyone is born an original, but many die as photocopies.”
Fortitude: He suffered with courage and hope, offering it for the Church and the Pope.
Knowledge: He used his computer skills to build a website reporting all of the Eucharistic miracles worldwide.
Piety: His faith and devotion to the Eucharist, Mary, and the Rosary was central to his daily life.
Fear of the Lord: He saw God’s greatness, and wanted to live his whole life trying to be holy.
1. Love:
Saint Carlo Acutis showed great love for others especially those who were lonely and were bullied.
2. Joy:
Even though he suffered great illness, Carlo radiated joy. He didn't complain when he was hurt and his cheerfulness drew people closer to him.
3. Peace:
Saint Carlo Acutis lived with confidence in God's presence. He said; “I am happy to die because I lived my life without wasting a minute on things that don’t please God.” His peace throughout his life inspired many family and friends.
4. Patience:
He was very patient throughout his life. This was shown in the many hours in which he spent creating the website listing all of the Eucharistic miracles.
5. Kindness:
Saint Carlo was known at school as a very kind person to everyone especially those who were mistreated or excluded. His kindness was shown in how he didn’t just avoid cruelty, he actively included others.
6. Goodness:
Saint Carlo made his Faith a big part of his daily routine by attending Mass every day, praying and dedicating his free time to acts of service. He was devoted to the Lord and demonstrated this through being true to himself and following God's teachings.
7. Generosity:
Saint Carlo was generous by using his talents and time effectively to help parishes, charities and the people around him.
8. Gentleness:
Just as the Lord has shown that we are all invited to live in his Kingdom and Faith without forcing it, Saint Carlo Acutis inspired people to live in the Catholic Faith. He did this with gentleness and through his example.
9. Self-control:
Despite having a love and talent for technology he devoted himself to spending time praying and living out his Faith. This shows great self-control and discipline.
1. Eloquent & Truthful:
Saint Carlo was always honest and kind to the people around him. His eloquence was shown in how he used technology to share the Eucharist and his Faith as his “highway to heaven.”
2. Grateful & Generous:
Saint Carlo was humble and grateful for the gift of the Eucharist, often saying it was his greatest treasure. He lived out this virtue by being generous to others, he gave to the poor, shared his talents freely and thought of others even when he was sick.
3. Attentive & Discerning:
Saint Carlo Acutis recognised people who were excluded or bullied and helped them in whatever they needed, rather than putting himself first. Saint Carlo showed great discernment by using his skills and talents with technology to promote Catholicism.
4. Compassionate & Loving:
Saint Carlo showed compassion to the people around him who were struggling and love for his family and friends.
5. Faith-filled & Hopeful:
Saint Carlo's whole life was dedicated to daily Mass, prayer, and devotion to Our Lady. Despite being very ill, he was hopeful and trusted God’s plan, confident that death was not the end.
6. Learned & Wise:
Saint Carlo was intelligent, but his wisdom came in knowing what mattered most: God. He inspired others not to turn away from God but embrace Him and eternal life.
7. Curious & Active:
Saint Carlo was curious about technology but he always directed his curiosity towards his Faith. He used his curiosity actively by creating his website of Eucharistic miracles.
With Saint Carlo Acutis as my confirmation saint, I will be a better person and will be able to see that even though I am still only 10, I can still make a difference.
With Saint Carlo Acutis as my confirmation saint, I will be able to use my gifts and talents to spread the word of God and not use them for my own selfish desires.
I will be able to attend every Sunday Mass, to praise the Lord in everything He does because whatever happens is all part of God's plan for me.
I will be selfless in my actions and make everyone feel included especially those who are excluded or are mistreated.
I will make sure I can share the word of God through not only words but also my musical talents and love of technology.
Saint Carlo Acutis will help me stand up for my faith and other people around me.
I will demonstrate self-control like Saint Carlo Acutis. I will do this by making sure that, rather than spending time in a selfish way, I will make sure to do things that include others, that benefit us all.
