Introduction:
Firstly, the individual has to be recognised for their faith to become a Servant of God. This is done by the person's local Bishop and must be accepted by the Vatican's Congregation for the Causes of Saints.
If the Congregation for the Causes of Saints approves the person, they may be declared Venerable.
A verified miracle by the individual is required for them to be beatified and be known as Blessed. Martyrs can be beatified without a miracle.
A second verified miracle is needed after beatification, and the Pope canonises the person, officially declaring them a Saint.
A Brazilian boy, who was born with a malformed pancreas, prayed to God and St Carlo Acutis, he also touched a relic of St Carlo. The boy was healed. Pope Francis then declared ths St Carlo's first miracle.
On 23rd May 2024, Pope Francis recognised a second miracle linked to St. Carlo Acutis. In 2022, Valeria Valverde from Costa Rica, suffered a serious brain injury when she fell off her bike whilst riding in Florence, Italy. The doctors thought she had little chance of recovering. Valeria's mother, Liliana, prayed for to St. Carlo Acutis to save her daughter. She also visited St. Carlo Acutis's tomb in Santa Maria Maggiore. That very same day, Valeria was cured. She was able to breathe without the help of machines and the following day she was able to walk with no signs of her brain injury.
Saint Carlo Acutis was supposed to be made a Saint on the 27th April 2025. However, on Easter Monday, just a week before, Pope Francis died. This meant that the canonisation had to be postponed until the 7th September 2025 when Carlo was finally made a Saint by Pope Leo XIV.
