High School Confirmation
As of 2022, in accordance with the Diocese of Yakima guidelines, our parish begins confirmation preparation in 7th grade with confirmation in the spring of 8th grade. 8th graders who are beginning their first year of confirmation prep will join 7th graders in the confirmation program.
We also maintain a program for high school confirmation. If your child is a high schooler who would like to receive the sacrament of confirmation, please contact Sarah Moore.
If your child is in need of baptism and/or First Reconciliation and First Communion , please refer to the section below on our Christian Initiation of Children.
Christ the King Religious Education offers sacramental preparation for older children (grades 4-12) who have not been baptized, have not made their First Reconciliation, or have not received First Holy Communion through the Christian Initiation of Children (CIC) program. The CIC program program is designed to help them gain a good basic understanding of the Catholic faith and prepare them for receiving the sacraments and can be done in conjunction with our confirmation program for children who are in grades 7-12.
The program has two required components.
1.) Your child needs to also regularly attend Religious Education classes for his/her grade level.
2.) The parent or guardian must participate with the student in the CIC classes and in guiding the home study program. Our approach is based on the belief that as parents, you are the primary teachers, and the religious education staff is here to support you.
The year will be a valuable and important journey of faith that you will travel with your child. Each person in class will have something to contribute and something to learn about our faith as Catholics and our role in each other's lives and in the world.
