This week, you explored a brief overview of computing history, what programming is and where computer programs are used. You’ve also seen how algorithms are designed. Perhaps you’ve thought differently about the objects and tools you use every day as a result.
You had the opportunity to design an algorithm. This may have been for the simple process of making tea, but it drew on many of the same skills you use in writing computer code.
Next week, you’ll move on to doing some programming of your own. You will spend time using code in an online game called Blockly. This will help you make some programs using a simple coding language and let you experience what coding feels like. The activities will help you problem-solve potential challenges you may experience. You’ll also hear from software developers and learn about a career in software development.
