Individual Education Plans (IEPs) are designed to support tamariki (children) with learning needs by creating personalised goals and strategies that enhance their educational experience. In Waikato, IEPs are developed in collaboration with whānau, educators, and specialists to ensure a holistic and inclusive approach to a child's learning. These plans help ensure that each child receives the appropriate support, accommodations, and resources needed to succeed in their educational journey.
An Individual Education Plan (IEP) is a tailored document designed to support students with diverse learning needs. It outlines specific goals, strategies, and resources to help the student achieve their full potential in the classroom. IEPs are typically developed for students with learning disabilities, behavioural challenges, or special educational needs, including those who receive Ongoing Resourcing Scheme (ORS) funding. Students with significant physical, sensory, intellectual, or learning challenges that impact their ability to participate fully in the standard curriculum are entitled to an IEP. The IEP is created collaboratively with input from the student, their whānau, teachers, specialists, and other support personnel to ensure a holistic and personalised approach to their education.
