Summary/Context: In response to concerns about the validity of the recent Philippines General Elections, hundreds of Filipino community members in New York City organized the Northeast Vigils for Democracy. The vigils, held over the past 5 days, addressed issues such as vote buying, malfunctioning vote counting machines, and violence during the elections. Survivors of Ferdinand Marcos Sr.'s martial law joined the vigils, emphasizing the disinformation campaign by the Marcos camp.

Featuring resource speakers Councilman Rolando Lavarro from Jersey City, who will speak more on the housing situation in Jersey City. In addition, Amy Torres executive director from New Jersey Immigrant Alliance for Justice (NJIAJ). They will speak on the immigrant situation, specifically what that means for our kababayans during this COVID-19 pandemic.
