The formation of communities and supportive spaces for undocumented students is essential during their educational journey. These environments not only provide a sense of belonging but also foster resilience and empowerment among students who often face significant challenges due to their immigration status. By cultivating inclusive spaces, undocumented students can connect with peers who share similar experiences, access vital resources, and engage in advocacy efforts. This sense of community is crucial as it helps them navigate their identities and strengthens their integration into U.S. society, ultimately contributing to their academic success and overall well-being.
Red Group was established in Winter 2025 as a dedicated support network for undocumented students, offering a safe and welcoming environment where they can connect, share experiences, and find community. The group emphasizes inclusivity and empowerment, fostering a sense of belonging among its members. With the support of allies, Red Group also seeks to collaborate with other organizations across Washington State that share its mission of advocating for the rights and needs of undocumented students. This network not only enhances the resources available to its members but also strengthens the collective voice of undocumented individuals within the broader community.
Purple Group serves as a support network for undocumented students, emphasizing community engagement, resource sharing, and advocacy for immigrant rights on both local and national scales. Founded in 2008 at the University of Washington by a group of undocumented students with the assistance of Dr. Roberto Gonzales, a leading authority on undocumented youth, the organization aims to create a welcoming environment for students to connect with one another and access mentorship and vital resources. After a period of inactivity, the group was revitalized in 2014 through a partnership with Leadership Without Borders, enhancing its commitment to fostering a supportive community. It officially became a Registered Student Organization in 2016.
Scholarship Initiative: The group is committed to providing financial assistance to undocumented students. In the 2016-2017 academic year, they successfully raised over $2,000 to establish their inaugural scholarship, with plans to offer two scholarships each year. They also encourage donations to support this important initiative.

Blue Group is a support network for undocumented students, their communities, and allies at Western Washington University (WWU). It has played a significant role in advocating for the needs of undocumented students, contributing to the establishment of the Blue Resource Center (BRC).
In Spring 2019, Blue Group collaborated with the Student Advocacy & Identity Resource Centers (SAIRC) to submit a grant proposal to the Associated Students (AS) Board. The proposal aimed to create a resource center that would address the historical and ongoing challenges faced by undocumented students and mixed-status families. It sought funding for operational programming and two student employee positions, which was successfully approved. The BRC officially opened in Fall Quarter 2019.
Blue Group has also facilitated the sharing of experiences by inviting UndocuQueer guest speakers, highlighting the stories of first-generation, LGBTQ+ individuals of color who are also undocumented.
