My name is Blanca Moreno, and I am a student at Everett Community College (EvCC). I am a first-generation student, and this is my third quarter in the Diversity, Equity, and Social Justice program. I can not believe where I am now, but I want to continue my journey and get a bachelor's degree in History.
Believe in yourself, and people will believe in you.
I came to the United States in 2022, facing the challenge of starting over with no language knowledge. In 2023, I began my educational journey at Everett Community College (EvCC), which was both exciting and daunting. Through hard work and determination, I managed to adapt to a new culture and academic environment. I am incredibly grateful to my family, friends, and instructors who supported me every step of the way. Their guidance and encouragement, along with the support of the community, made a significant difference in my journey, and I owe much of my success to their unwavering support.
In 2024, I reached two significant milestones by completing the English Language Acquisition (ELA) program and earning my GED diploma, achievements that I am genuinely proud of. These experiences have shaped my perspective and strengthened my desire to help others. My dream is to create opportunities for people, just like those given to me, so I can give back to the community that has helped me thrive. Every step has been a learning experience, and I’m eager to continue my growth as I work toward my goals.
