What are we doing?
At this year's Repurposed Tinkerlab, we will be "upcycling" items from student and faculty homes! Upcycling is a great way to reduce and reuse things that are in good condition but could be considered waste (Upcycle Lesson Plan, n.d.). We'll use used household items to create brand new household items or trinkets.
Why upcycle?
Many of us in modern society get caught up in the global habit of single-use items which leads to an abundance of garbage. By finding ways to reuse what we have or reconstruct it, we can lessen the amount of waste we create. This means we save money while still gaining new materials!

After the event, students and their guests will come to understand the importance of considering their environmental impact not only in their own homes, but within the communities and possible the world. All participants will notice an increased use of creativity, more developed aesthetics and an opportunity for engineering a creation resulting from their own critical thinking skills.
Don't miss out! We can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.
