What is it?
Global Readers is a chance for all of our friends (Sager, 2022) to hear stories in various languages such as Chinese, Spanish, Arabic, French, Japanese, and more, as well as Korean and English. Parent participation helps to make this event a success! In addition to parents, seniors (G12 students) attaining their service learning hours are also going to be sharing their multilingual reading abilities. People of all ages, races, religions, and genders are participating.
All you need to bring is a picture book that you can read to small groups of children in the library. If you need help finding a book to read, please contact CDS Librarian. Books of all kinds are welcome, too, as both the readers and the literature is intended to be diverse. (Visco, 2020)
Why is it important?
Learn to read — read to learn. Book week is a special week devoted to the wonder of reading. Special themes occur such as dressing up as your favorite character, author visits and more. One of the students' favorite days is Global Readers to Tommorow's Leaders.
