Costume Contest Rules

Minimum Requirements for Entry

• • • Be able to Communicate with CommUnity Islands Leadership, ideally on discord.

      • Get on Discord or Email Group or connect on Twitter / Facebook - Possibly just being a Best Friend could be enough, and for finalists we can not communicate with in other ways, we will try to send a letter in the Animal Crossing mail.

    • Travel to island while we are live streaming to Twitch - We will automatically record it, and make it available for the community to view and vote on.

    • Anyone can enter the competition simply by visiting Unity Island while we are live streaming, as long as you come by October 24th. Anyone who comes after October 24th we will do our best to include, but we can not guarantee, as it will give us limited time. If you come after October 24th, you are highly encouraged to communicate well on Discord so that we can be sure to include you.

What is Judged

• • • The Competition will be limited to ONLY the 10 second entry screen when entering Unity Island, where it shows your character walking through the Airport. We also can include the 3 seconds of the exit as well, which shows the back angle, but the back angle can not be guaranteed (let us know if this is essential for your costume). This will give ALL players equal time, equal angle, equal lighting, and equal perspective. This model does limit certain types of costumes and designs, including no wand transformations, but overall we feel it is the fairest way to allow each entrant to be viewed, and more importantly, allows for the maximum impact upon entry into the competition. It is the first impression.

Finalist Criteria

• • • Anyone is automatically entered into the competition, simply by traveling to Unity Island during the Month of October.

    • To be a finalist, there must be a nomination, and have multiple other community members support your nomination

    • Anyone can nominate any costume that you are impressed by. If you are on the island, and see someone enter that has an amazing costume, just log the time, and then go on discord and give the time so that we can add the footage to the possible finalists.

    • Once multiple nominations second, third etc the entry, that entry will automatically be included in the list of finalists.

    • We will be ranking finalists based on how much support they get. So the more support the higher the ranking

    • depending on how good the submissions are, we will make a cut off of the number finalists, but we as the community always have the power to add a finalist if there costume is amazing. After Oct 24th, costumes that get added to the finalists will be a higher and higher bar for inclusion.

    • If someone has a great costume, they can be a preliminary finalist, or finalist in consideration. That means they are being considered for a finalist position, but have NOT been included yet, depending on the cut off and the relative interest, and the number of submissions we get.

    • For individuals who submit multiple costumes into the competition, ONLY a single costume can be chosen for a finalist consideration per character. If there are more than one characters on an island, we have a limit of only two submissions per island. If you have 3+ people using a single console, then we will allow additional submissions from a single island as long as there is verification of multiple different people using that single console.

    • Finalists do NOT need to cheat there way to have 2 submissions, as all finalists will be allowed to submit a 2nd costume automatically.

List of Finalists

• • • Deadline to be guaranteed in the main competition will be 1 week before Halloween, which is October 24th

    • Finalists can be added at anytime both before and after October 24th.

    • The list of ALL finalists will be published before Halloween Day, and may be a running list as we add submissions.

    • We reserve the right to add any finalist on the day of Halloween, but there is no guarantee. No finalists will be added after halloween.

    • All finalists are allowed an additional costume submission if they want, or they can just keep their original submission. If they choose to do a second submission, they will be judged on both together, not as individual separate submissions.

Requirements for Finalists

• • • If you are invited to the Finals you can either keep your original submission, or you can add an additional submission if you want to.

    • Registration for Finalists includes registering where you winnings will go so that if you win, we can send the reward right away. :)

      • We would need to verify your account and island, username. We most likely will just send you a code, that you send us on the best friend message app within the game to simply verify you as the user of the account.

Final Voting

• • • During the Last Week of October 24th-31st, everyone will be able to vote online for their favorite submissions. We will use existing FQN CommUnity Network voting methods.

    • There may be multiple rounds where we narrow down the winner.

    • There is NO guarantee that the winner will be chosen on Halloween Day, but we do guarantee that we will certainly narrow down the choices.

    • If we go into the next day, The last round of voting will take place the day after Halloween.

Rewards and Prizes

• • • 1st: $100

    • 2nd: $50

    • 3rd: $50

    • Everyone gets equity

    • Depending on the number of people, and interest in the competition, the prizes could grow or evolve.

    • At this time we are offering a minimum prize of about $100 for the grand prize winner.

    • We also will offer $50 prizes for up to 2 runner ups if they were extremely close to the winner.

    • For other notable entries we will gift various prizes of stacks of 30 gold nuggets, stacks of NMTs and other in game items that players are interested in. Also Those in the community may be interested in giving gifts to the runners up.

Oversight and Accountability

• • • All decision making and oversight for the competition will be overseen by the FQN CommUnity Network Virtual Worlds Organizing Team, that oversees the CommUnity Islands. The CORE Team Main session is scheduled weekly, and other natural time sessions, and anyone is welcome to come get involved. Audio Meetings take place on Unity and/or CommUnity Island starting in the Board Rooms. Meeting Participants are limited to 8 people maximum per island, which currently is a total of 16 people. If we had more than 16 people who wanted to attend, we could easily get other islands involved. Currently we only have 2-3 people. We also offer small one-time meeting stipends of in game rewards, or even upfront pay, for those who want to get involved.

    • All rules, voting processes, certification, verification, coordination, and decision making regarding the Costume Competition will be controlled by the CommUnity Island Organizing Team Main Session. If the CommUnity Islands Organzing Team can NOT finalize a decision, or any other problems occur, the FQN CommUnity Network Steering Team has the power to step in and ensure a final decision is made. All decision making will use the Unity Methodology.

    • Our CommUnity Islands Organizing Team is open to anyone to join. You must have a switch and be available to attend our 2 hour weekly Main Session.
