New Field Primary school is one of the local CPS facilities in the Roger's Park neighborhood. Founded in 2003 the school's mission is "Teachers and students are a community of learners committed to using evidence-based strategies and collaborative practices to foster a respectful and safe place to learn where each student’s strengths and needs are addressed"(New Field Primary website 2009).
Friends of New Field not-for-profit program: "Our mission is threefold: To educate the Rogers Park community and beyond by highlighting the offerings at both schools and celebrate their achievements. To create strategic partnerships with neighborhood businesses, local stakeholders, our elected representatives, and community development organizations and foundations in our community, throughout the city, and beyond. To raise funds for materials and additional programming that enhance and support academic excellence, improve student outcomes, and enrich extracurricular opportunities for all students of Eugene Field Elementary and New Field Elementary in accordance with the meaning of Section501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986"-New Field Primary School Website
This program uses online fund-raising site Mighty Cause to help raise money to buy students supplies needed for school. Proper supplies help students perform to the best of their abilities in the school setting and make sure students don't feel alienated by not having proper supplies.
The school has also partnered with Common Threads: Cooking for life, Kalapriya, Chinese Mutual Aid Association, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois, J at School, Greater Chicago Food Depository, Old Town School of Folk Music, Lifeline Theatre, Loyola University, Chicago Children's Choir, Chicago Literacy Group, Northeastern Illinois University, and Chicago Run.
These partnerships with food-based organizations provide quality nourishment for the students, and additional partners provide enrichment programs like theatre and music. A child's success at school is not limited to what happens in the classroom so ensuring a child has a beneficial environment that focuses on health can intern reap massive scholastic gains.

The "Home Language Survey" is a form available in Chinese, Arabic, English, Polish, Latin, Romanian, Urdu, Assyrian, Yoruba, Korean, Tagalog, Gujarati, and Spanish. Legal guardians of New Field students answer the following two questions:
1. Is a language other than English spoken in your home? Yes[ ] No[ ] Language________
2. Does the student speak a language other than English?Yes[ ] No[ ] Language_________
(CPS Office of Language and Cultural Education, 2021)
The form allows New Field to gain an emergent bilingual student census. Understanding students' home dialects is important because, "cultural and ethnic variations among families affect children's development of various language and literacy skills." (Jeanne Ellis Ormrod et al., 2020, 112) Educators are responsible for acknowledging code switching in the classroom, which is students consciously shifting from using one language to using another language in school versus home settings.
