MISSION:
Through locations in Edgewater and Rogers Park, Care for Real (CfR) provides food, clothing, referral, and additional services with compassion to improve the health and well-being of low-income residents to foster a stronger, healthier, equitable, and more stable community.
Care for real is a non profit organization that have been serving 50 years has been about neighbors helping neighbors.
They have created bonds between
local businesses
faith communities,
schools,
elected officials,
grocery pantries,
There are
60,000 food pantry visits each year
host about 2,000 closet appointments
distributes more than 2 million pounds
helps 700 pet owners
Care for Real relies on the support of more than 550 volunteers to help distribute food six days a week to thousands of neighbors facing food insecurity each year.
.Chicago residents living in 60640, 606045, 60660, 60659, and 60626 zip codes in need of food assistance are welcome to visit one Care for Real pantry once per week. For anyone living outside of Care for Real’s service area, please visit www.chicagosfoodbank.org/find-food to find a pantry near you.

Sorting out clothing donations
Providing administrative support
As volunteering creates an impact in young adults, many teenagers also have the opportnity of creating a safe space for them. As ages 16+ can volunteer without a parent or guardian,they also have the ability to select a variety of shifts.

Guests must be a client of the Care for Real food pantry at either the Edgewater or Rogers park location. (A defined guest is who has received groceries from the pantry at least once in the previous 30 days)
