Some things are just awkward to mail. Most things fit nicely in an envelope. Sending a letter? Easy, just get an envelope. Trading books with a friend? Buy a manilla envelope or small shipping package. Moving across the country? Easily move and transport your clothes and small belongings in a box. Now those are all just examples of simple, manageable things to ship. And that’s great! It just takes a few shipping supplies and one run to the post office. That goes for the majority of things people will be shipping and mailing. But what about the things that are a little bit more complicated? Well, this is why I have created this website to share my experience.
One such item is a telescope. And we aren’t talking about the cheap telescope you got in the 2nd grade, but quality telescopes. They are very expensive products and no one would be happy if their telescope broke in the shipping process. For awkwardly long, skinny things like a telescope, a telescoping mailing tube would be best. These mailing tubes are long and skinny like a poster tube. But unlike a poster tube, the inside is double cardboard wall and it is sealed with a joint cap to really hold it altogether. The double cardboard ensures that the item on the inside is not getting crushed. Then, this package can be mailed with a few shipping supplies and the owner’s mind can be at ease.
Just because it is called a telescoping mailing tube does not mean that only telescopes can be mailed in it. There are a few different sizes and widths of tubes so other things can be shipped as well! The tube really can be used for any item that cannot afford to be crushed accidentally in the mail. Engineers and architects opt for this type of tube to really make sure their blueprints and documents stay neat and uncrushed during the shipping process.
The best reason why people choose the telescoping tube is because it can be used again. The double cardboard wall allows the tube to hold up over many shipments. Sometimes it makes sense to use a normal mailing tube. Like when you order a poster online. There is no use for the company to buy mailing tubes that will be reused because it will only be used to ship one poster. Engineers and architects that mail blueprints back and forth to each other will benefit from a tube that can be used multiple times. That way they only have to purchase one instead of using a new tube every time they mail something!
