You are an important part of this course so we need your input! Attendance is counted when you submit work or otherwise participate in course activities, discussions, etc. If you do not submit an assignment or you fail to respond to a class prompt, you are considered “absent”. Four absences can result in being dropped from the course, so be sure you stay engaged, submit work, and plan ahead. Having trouble keeping up? Send me a message. Let's game plan together to help you stay successful and involved.
Every assignment has a “home” or certain place for submission. Please take care to submit work in the correct place on Canvas so that we can both stay organized and I can give feedback on everyone’s work in a timely manner. This means you will need to give yourself time and grace when working with technology. Plan ahead so that you can troubleshoot uploading a video, or submitting a paper to Canvas. Feeling uncertain about your submission? Send me a message and I can go into Canvas and double-check that your work is there. Need more help first? I have tutorials loaded on Canvas!
Life can be messy and get in the way of our good intentions and hard work. To help with these messy moments, this course has the following late work policy:
3 Day Policy: You have up to three days to complete work before the submission window closes. There is no late penalty during this late submission window. You never have to ask or explain yourself for this particular policy. Canvas automatically does this for you and will automatically close the assignment after three days.
“One-Time One Week” Extension: If you are experiencing an illness or emergency that keeps you from submitting a big assignment, you can request a one-time extension on one assignment, but you must contact me as soon as possible so that we can discuss timeline and proper accommodations. Do not simply email me your work. This must be agreed upon and done through Canvas settings. You do not need to justify your reason for this extension to me, you simply need to ask for the extension so we can work out the details. Generally, work is extended one week to ten days without any sort of penalty, but this extension is more flexible to meet the needs of the student. Please note that work cannot be extended beyond the final week of class.
Any type of cheating or plagiarizing of materials will result in a zero on the associated assignment and possibly the course. Plagiarism and cheating include, but are not limited to: Using unauthorized materials or methods (AI, chat bots, etc) to complete an assignment, Improper citations, presenting information from another class as original work for this class, or presenting the work of someone else as your own. Be aware that Canvas does do a screen for AI software to ensure you are the one completing this course and the related materials. If you ever think there is a grey area or want to talk about this more please let me know.
