I've always stuck with the note taking app that came with the phone. But every time I changed my phone I ended up regretting it as most don't have a method of tranfering between different brands. My last phone (LG G3) broke and although I have my 200 notes backed up, I cannot actually access them. So I'm thinking of sticking with a new app that can back up my stuff online and I'd be able to access them from another phone or possibly even, the computer.

From compiling shopping and to-do lists, to more detailed notes and dictation for study and the office, ColorNote Notepad Notes gives you plenty of choice. Personalize your post-it colours and fonts with dynamic new themes, and arrange your app screen for optimum access to your favourite features.

Hello: I changed my phone and to save my notes I made a copy and sent it to me by mail. A file was created in .doc, but when I want to open it it comes out encoded. What can I do? Is there a way to ge...

I recently switched to Joplin after using Colornote for quite a while. Due to Colornote's lack of export features, the migration process was a pain. Additionally, I wanted to keep the creation and modification dates of my notes intact. So I ended up writing a script that takes care of all of that. Here it is, in case anybody ever wants to do something similar:

Oh wow, I didn't know there were two apps that are named so similarly. Thanks for the link idea, I'll definitely do that. It should mitigate any confusion.

Turns out it was "Colornote" all along and when ajay suggested that the name is actually "Colornotes" it just didn't occur to me that there can be another app so similarly named.

--Edit--

I can't seem to edit my original post. Could somebody please paste the link in there, and change all the "colornotes" to "colornote"? (Including the one in the url to the github page. I'll go back and change it so it matches up again.) Here's the link:

I can't seem to run this script to convert my colornote.db to joplin. I have installed all the necessary apps copied the colornote_to_joplin.py and colonornote.db files to the python install directory. When I try to run the .py file in python I get stuck. I get the error in the screenshot below.

Sorry. This code is from the good old times where I didn't really bother/know about error handling, so it's a bit hard to diagnose. My best guess is that the script can't communicate with the joplin api properly and that's messing up the json library. If it's super urgent, you can try and paste print(r.json()) between lines 32 and 33 in colornote_to_joplin.py and send me the output after you run the code again. (Make sure that the line you just pasted lines up with the two surrounding lines. i.e. it's prepended with 4 spaces).

If it's not super urgent, I'll try and update the code with proper exception handling at some point which would make the problem easier to diagnose.

Thanks for responding. Am on windows 10, am not a coder. I however edited the colornote_to_joplin file and ran it as directed and attached is the screenshot of what I got.

I wasn't able to obtain a "colornote.db" file, I think ColorNote now uses a different storage format, or atleast that's the case when encryption is enabled. Instead, I had to email the new owner of ColorNote and ask for a CSV file of my online backup, and ask them specifically for the CSV file to include the last modification date of each note. They emailed me a password-protected zip file of my "notes.csv" file. I then modified Ratchek's script so it imports this CSV file into Joplin.

I've posted the script on github as a fork of Ratcheck's project.

Any suggestions on notepad apps much appreciated! Just so you get an idea of what I am looking for -- Google's Word app is overkill for my needs and it's also slow opening files, and seems to work best only when it has a data or wifi connection, which is a minus in my view. I'm really looking for a no-frills app, the simpler the better. Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi,

I bought a Simbans Picasso tablet, primarily for writing notes. I wanted to do this on a simulated lined sheet of paper.

" You might want to give ColorNote Notepad Notes a try. It supports hand-written as well as typed notes. Most importantly, it looks like a sheet of lined paper."

I installed ColorNotes but have been told since, " I honestly never used the handwritten feature, so I thought it allowed you to enter handwritten notes. Apparently it doesn't, but it apparently does allow you to import them. "

I'd like to know if EverNote free Edition will allow me to do what I want to do?

Thanks

I found one that has Android 10 preinstalled. It should be possible to install EN on it. This still does not mean anything will sync with EN - you can only send / share the output of any notes app into an EN note. They will be static, not editable.

I forgot to backup my notes before factory reset and now apparently I have lost them all. Before doing factory reset though, Back up my data option in Settings >> Backup & Restore was checked but right after it there was no sign of restoring data and such. I am not however sure if this has backed up any of my ColorNote app data.

There is a backup folder at this address /storage/emulated/0/backup which contains backup files for some applications including one file named com.socialnmobile.dictapps.notepad.color.note which should be related to ColorNote app. When I double click on this file, and install it, no note gets restored. I also did not have anything synced with my Google account before doing factory reset.

I know I have probably lost my notes, but still am desperately searching for some way to restore them! Those notes where stored on Androids file system, so my only hope for now is maybe I could use some file recovery application to recover those deleted files. Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated!

I ran into this when I purchased a new phone. SD cards were not the same. One from my old phone would not fit the new one. I used windows to copy the ColorNote files over to the new phone. I first used a USB cable on an old phone and copied files to a folder on the Windows desktop. Next, I used a USB cable on the new phone and copied the files into the Data/colornote directory on the new phone.

Your notes will be automatically backed up to SD card of your device, unless you turn off 'Auto backup' option. Also you can manually back up notes to SD card. Furthermore, if you sign up for online sync service, the notes will be backed up to the cloud storage as well.

When that happens, the last thing you need is an unreliable, disorganized system of handwritten notes. Instead, you want a note-taking app that makes it a breeze to write notes on the fly, organize them into effective categories, and transform your notes into actionable ideas.

A note-taking app is a digital way to write, store, and organize all your important notes. In some cases, it can even include storing and organizing handwritten notes, thanks to the ability to scan documents to add to your filing system. ff782bc1db
