Hollister Hills SVRA
Upper Ranch at the Hollister Hills State Vehicle Recreational Area includes numerous 4x4 trails and man-made off road obstacles.
Hollister Hills is open year round. Day use fees are $5, camping fees are $10 per night.
To get into Upper ranch, you have to check-in and pay at the Main SVRA entrance at 36.770615, -121.414503 where you will receive a combination to open the blue gate at the vineyard school house located at 36.758225, -121.397343.

Hollister Hills, near the San Luis Reservoir, Salinas and Monterey, California has a little bit of everything, from easy to extreme 4x4 trails, man-made obstacles and water crossings at the Upper Ranch, including the famous Tank Trap trail seen in the Top Truck Challenge.
The thick, slick mud at Hollister makes everything more difficult than it looks, but is always fun.
We spent a few days here with the Colorado ZR2 (and a few other rigs) at the Upper Ranch of the Hollister Hills State Vehicle Recreation Area where we ran up to Hector Heights at the top of McCray Road, played on the 4x4 practice area stair steps , the off road adventure track and the easier sections of McCrayZ.

Towing the small Coleman / Fleetwood Cobalt pop-up camper trailer from Los Angles to Hollister, we cruised at about 60-64 miles per hour and averaged over 19 miles per gallon on the way there. Over 20 miles per gallon on the way home!
This Colorado ZR2 has the 3.6 liter V6 gasoline engine.
