Meet our Board Members! They are small business owners, artisans, and incredibly knowledgable about fiber and fiber arts. Check out their businesses and say hi if you see them at our next in-person event!
Calabrese-Siciliana-Americana (4th generation Coloradoan) knitwear and upcycling designer, garment worker, & sartorial social justice nerd practicing for over 20 years, not counting her time as a youth in 4-H knitting & crochet clubs. Born in Glenwood Springs and raised in Eagle County, Rose creates from a foundation of ancestral knowledge of the craft, sourcing from regional textile producers to create fashion pieces that literally nourish and honor connections to our land and body.
Erin grew up on the family farm in rural Massachusetts right next door to her grandmother who taught her the knit stitch at a young age. Fast forward 10 years, and Erin picked up knitting again, and this time started soaking up everything she could possibly learn about fiber arts. Since then Erin has become a knitter, spinner, weaver, amateur sewist, natural dyer, and an ASI certified sheep shearer. She is also the owner of Nerdy Sheep Fiber Works, with the long term goal to open a full service fiber mill on the Front Range, supporting local farms and artisans.

DJ's love of fiber started in high school when she learned to knit and crochet. Then, about 25 years ag, she learned to spin and dove in deeper to the fiber arts, eventually acquiring 7 spinning wheels. With so much yarn at hand, she decided to learn a new fiber art - weaving! After that, she decided to go to the source and bought an acreage and some sheep and alpacas to go with it! With all these “hobby” expenses it was good she still had her “day” job in accounting. Now she mixes both by handling the money and accounting tasks for Mountains & Plains Fibershed.
Alex started his career in fiber and clothing in 2019, when he began his masters degree studies. Focusing on sustainable business practices, he delved into the textile industry and its economic, social, and environmental impacts on the world throughout history. His studies included reading books such as Fibershed by Rebecca Burgess and Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion by Elizabeth L. Cline. Displeased with his wardrobe after having the wool removed from his eyes, he taught himself how to design, sew, and dye clothing using only organic materials.

Cheryl’s been weaving, spinning, knitting, dyeing and filling her life with fiber adventures for over 40 years. She helped acquire the initial charter for the Mountain and Plains Fibershed in 2013, and is glad to be re-involved and working with the current board to help our fibershed grow and flourish.
Originally from Idaho but a Coloradan for 27+ years, Noelle is the shepherdess of the Big Ash Farm flock of Icelandic sheep. When not hanging out with her flock, you'll find her playing with wool (felting is Noelle's fiber art of choice), or in the garden growing yummy veg and fun things to experiment with in the natural dyeing world, like indigo!
Amberly is an avid crafter and is happiest when her hands are busy. While she only started knitting a few years ago, she has amassed a very impressive yarn collection and has more "in progress" projects than she cares to admit.
