DroidTV PVR Application for Android
The following information was compiled to help friends, family and all those who have expressed interest in good cord cutting alternatives.
About DroidTV:
DroidTV Primetime is a personal video recorder (PVR) that includes the best network primetime, Classic TV and select premium channel shows.
Record and watch TV on-demand on your phone or tablet in full HD resolution with DroidTV. Cast shows wirelessly to your TV. Choose from thousands of episodes of the most popular shows from the major TV networks. Watch whenever you want, wherever you want, without any commercials.
With DroidTV, you can record and watch individual episodes or automatically record every episode of a show as they become available. Episodes are recorded from the Internet, stored on your own dedicated virtual PVR in a data center, then transferred to your phone or tablet for viewing.
Recorded episodes are played from your local devices, not streamed, so they are available anytime, even when you don’t have Internet access. Episodes play immediately, without buffering delays or reduced quality.
You can store any number of episodes on your virtual PVR. The number of episodes on your device is only limited by the available memory on your SD card.
Is It Legal:
We often get this question. The U.S. Supreme Court has upheld that, just like with your home DVR, individual recordings of potentially copyrighted TV episodes and similar material may be legally copied at your request and for your own personal use using technology such as that used by DroidTV, when made under the control of you, the consumer.

How to use DroidTV:
When you open DroidTV there are two main areas to be aware of. The upper right drop down contains subscription, app preferences, Help, user feedback, the private Facebook support forum and Privacy Policy. The upper left drop down contains folders for Favorite Shows, Now Playing, Primetime, Classics, Free Shows, New Shows and My DVR.
It is suggested that you begin by reviewing the "New Shows" folder which contains shows added in the last 30 days. Click on a show, and select if you want to record previously aired shows or only upcoming shows. Do this for each of the categories of shows. You can optionally "favorite" a show which places it in your favorite folder for easy access.
Once selected, shows will be recorder to your virtual PVR after which they will be automatically downloaded from the virtual DVR to your local device for viewing. Once an episode is viewed it can either be permanently deleted or removed from your device but retained on your virtual PVR for future viewing. Recording a new episode can take up to an hour whereas downloading the same show from your virtual PVR take just minutes.
Casting to TV:
Shows recorded by DroidTV can be wirelessly cast to an HDTV using the internal caster (preferred) or several available third-party casting applications such as AllCast, LocalCast or Avia. All are available from the Google Play Store. These casting applications will cast to a Google TV with Chromecast, Roku, Fire Stick, XBox or Apple TV.
