How I See Myself As a Writer - An Essay and Short Story

When I was in college, I made an assignment for the class that asked us to write an essay. It turned out that I was the only one that actually took the time to do it. I used to worry about that assignment. A lot of my time was taken up by writing it.

However, I learned to focus on the purpose of the assignment rather than worrying about how I would look to my friends or the other students. I decided to take that essay and turn it into a short story.

Once I made that decision, I was free to write how I saw myself as a writer and a reader. It was fun to see what ideas came to mind.

Reading is one of the most powerful ways to get ideas out of your head. There are so many ways to get an idea out of my head. Reading is by far the best way to put words down on paper that I have never been able to express in any other way.

Also, when you read, you can ask yourself a lot of questions and you can't always find the answers in your head. You have to write those things down and make sure that you give them the form of an essay. The goal here is to create a story about your life and your interests.

With how I see myself as a writer, I used to write different versions of how I see myself as a writer. Once I had an outline for the entire essay, I just went back and changed and added more aspects until I found the best form for it.

I started this essay by telling how I think I would describe myself as a writer. As you can tell, I used that exact same term in the end to reflect the kind of story I wanted to write.
